OPI: Osaka-to-me orange

 A couple of months ago I needed a nice, bright orange (not neon) for a particular mani. So I found Osaka-to-me orange. This shade was released with the Japanese Collection back in 2005. A few post back I said OPI made the change to 3-Free on 2008, however some people says it was on 2006. Ill do more research about it but this one's clearly not a 3-Free. You can tell by the label: Green labels are the new formula (3-Free) and black ones are the old formula. (Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine! was released this year and its part of the Germany Collection)

Hace un par de meses necesitaba un esmalte naranja, bonito, brillante (pero no neon) y en Beauty Corner encontré Osaka-to-me orange. Este tono salió con la colección de Japón en 2005. Hace algunos posts dije que OPI hizo el cambio de fórmula a 3-Free en 2008, pero hay algunas inconsistencias sobre esta informacion, hay quien dice que el cambio fue en 2006. Investigaré mas sobre ello pero ya sea en un año o en el otro, este claramente no es 3-Free. Puedes darte cuenta de qué formula es en la etiqueta: las letras verdes son nueva fórmula (3-Free) y las negras son la fórmula vieja (  Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine! salió este año con la colección de Alemania).

 One thing that called my attention was the brush. I love OPI brushes but this one sucked. When I bought it I didnt know much about the brush or the formula so that explains why I didnt grab another orange. The cool brushes are flat, wide, easy to work with. This brush (on the left) is very thin, cilinder-shaped. Makes application even harder.

Algo que me llamo la atención fue la brocha. Me encantan las brochas de OPI pero esta está horrible, Cuando lo compré no sabía mucho de brochas o formulas asi que eso explica porque no agarré otro naranja. Las brochas bonitas son planas, anchas, muy fáciles de usar. Esta brocha (la de la izquierda) es muy delgada, con forma cilíndrica. Hace que la aplicación sea aún mas difícil.

 

Application was not easy. Its kinda sheer so to get full opacity I applied 3 generous -not thick- coats.

All swatches were made with base coat, 3 coats, no top coat. Its very shiny and smooth. As you can see, this is very bright, but not as much to be a neon. Its a nice cream orange that overall Im happy to have in my stash.

La aplicación no fue fácil. Es algo transparente asi que para que quedara completamente opaco use 3 generosas pero no exageradas capas. Todas las fotos son con base coat, 3 capas, sin top coat. Queda muy brilloso y el terminado parejo, aun sin top coat. Es un bonito naranja crema que con todo lo de la fórmula y la brocha estoy feliz de tener en mi colección. 

And.. Of course I had to do nail art! I tried to make some cute pumpkins 'cause its October but this was obviously a fail, sadly. 

Y.. por supuesto que tenía que hacer nail art! Intenté hacer unas calabacitas tiernas porque es Octubre, pero esto obviamente fue un gran fail.

NOTD / Uñas del día

Here's a mani I did a couple of days ago. Its actually from @chelseaqueen on Instagram, i copied it for a contest but I loved it so so much that I had to share. Freehanded the index finger as well. :)

Aqui estan unas uñas que hice hace un par de dias. De hecho le pertenece a @chelseaqueen en Instagram, lo copié para un concurso pero me gusto tanto tanto que tenia que compartirlo. También pinte a mano la uña del dedo índice. :)

Productos que usé (Izq-Der)

OPI Nail Envy - Revlon Sunshine Sparkle - Green Striper - Art Club Lilac striper - China Glaze White on white - China Glaze Rich and Famous - OPI Rumple's Wiggin' - Color Club Platinum Record (not shown in the pic) - OPI Rapidry Top Coat - Dotting tool / Puntero (no mostrado)

First, paint your nail with a base coat, then paint two coats of the base color -  Sunshine Sparkle.

Primero pinta tus uñas con una base coat, luego pon dos capas del color base- Sunshine Sparkle.

Then draw a few lines with the lilac striper as shown in the pics:

Luego dibuja varias lineas con el striper lila como se muestra en las fotos:

Do exactly the same thing with the green striper. Guide yourself with this pics:

Haz lo mismo con el striper verde. Guiate con estas fotos:

With the dotting tool place 5 white dots in the shape of a flower. Draw them wherever you want.

Con el puntero coloca 5 puntos en forma de flor. Dibujalo donde quieras:

Repeat the same with the dotting tool, but make them inside the white flowers and a little smaller. For the centers I used Color Club's Platinum Record. Just took a medium glitter and place it in there.

Repite lo mismo con el puntero, pero haz los puntos dentro de las flores blancas y un poco mas pequelos. Para los centros use Platinum Record de Color Club. Solo tomé glitters medianos y los puse ahí.

Finally seal it all with Rapidry Top Coat and thats it. Or give it a twist and replace Rapidry with Essie's Matte about you. I hope you like this pictorial. If you have any questions please comment. I always reply!

Ideas: Short nails / Uñas cortas

Here's two fun ideas to do on short nails. Im one of those who think long nails are the best for nail art, but a while ago my nail completely broke and I lost the piece so I couldn repair it with Orly's kit.  
There's not much to say, If you want a tutorial in any case just comment and I'll be glad to do it!

Aqui estan dos ideas divertidas para hacer en uñas cortas. Yo soy de las que creen que las uñas largas son mejores para nail art, pero hace un tiempo mi uña se rompio y perdí el pedazo así que no pude repararlo con el kit de Orly. No hay mucho que decir sobre esto en realidad, salvo que si te gustaría un tutorial comenta debajo y yo estaré muy feliz de hacerlo :).

DIY: Flakie Top Coat / Hazlo tu mismo

I've been doing some experiments lately about doing my very own customized nail polish. As I have mentioned before, I don't live in the U.S so it is impossible to me to get some suspension base and supplies (glitter and stuff). However I went to the crafting store the other day and I came across this wonderful 'paper'? Its like pieces of holo paper, just as the flakes China Glaze's Luxe & Lush seems to contain, Ive looked for L&L everyone withouth success so I said why not? and bought this bag for about .25 dollars.

He estado haciendo experimentos ultimamente sobre hacer un unico esmalte de uñas, digamos diseñado por mi. Como he mencionado antes yo vivo en Mexico, asi que me es imposible conseguir todas las cosas que estan disponibles en Estados Unidos, como base para esmalte y glitter y esas cosas. Pero hace unos dias fui a la papelería y me encontré con esta especie de papel. Es como pedacitos de papel holográfico, justo como las hojuelitas que contiene Luxe & Lush de China Glaze. Este último lo he buscado por todos lados sin exito asi que dije porqué no? y compré esta bolsita por 3.50 pesos.

I poured some top coat into an old Bissu mini bottle (I dont use Bissú anymore. I'll explain why in another post) and then added flakes 'til I got satisfied.  As the flakies are paper they dont sink! Im actually looking at the bottle right now, several days after its creation and its still good. For this bottle I used a really small amount of flakes for this bottle, I guess I could make up to 5 full sized bottles with the remains of it.

Vacié un poco de top coat en una mini botella vieja de Bissu (Ya no uso Bissu. En otro post explicare porque) y luego añadi las hojuelitas hasta que me sentí satisfecha. Como las hojuelas son papel no se hunden! De hecho, estoy viendo la botella en este momento, dias despues de su creación, y sigue en buen estado. Para esta botella use una cantidad verdaderamente pequeña de papelitos, supongo que podria hacer unas 5 botellas grandes con lo que quedó.

Finally I layered it over two polishes. First from left to right, over CG Liquid leather, alone, over OPI ink. I shouldve layered it over another color but I was really interested on how would they look together.

Finalmente lo puse sobre dos esmaltes. El primero, de izquierda a derecha , sobre CG Liquid Leather, solo, sobre OPI Ink. Lo debí haber puesto sobre otro color, pero realmente estaba interesada en como se verían juntos OPI Ink y mi nueva creación.

Overall what I enjoyed the most was making my own nail polish, and it looks pretty good. Im gonna cut the flakies a little smaller next time, tho. So thank you for reading as always!

Lo que más disfrute fue crear mi propio esmalte, y se ve bastante bien. Aunque voy a cortar los papelitos mas pequeños la próxima vez . Gracias por leer, como siempre!

China Glaze: White Cap

As you may know I keep a large China Glaze wishlist, and White Cap was in it, 'til I saw this baby at Sally's. I loved it! So I decided it needed a blog post.
White Cap was released with the Anchors Away collection (2001). Its golden micro glitter/ shimmer on a white jelly base. Its amazing how much it shines,  and it is so cool that you can wear it alone or you can lay it over another color. It was easy to apply, standard dry time, nice formula, as always with China Glaze's.

Como sabrán tengo una larga lista de deseos de China Glaze, y White Cap estaba en ella hasta que lo vi en Sally. Me encantó! Así que decidí dedicarle un post entero.
White Cap es parte de la colección Anchors Away (2001). Es micro glitter/shimmer dorado en una base blanca transparentosa. Es increíble lo mucho que brilla, y es genial que se puede usar solo o se puede poner sobre otro color. Fácil aplicación, tiempo de secado estandard, buena fórmula, como siempre con los China Glaze.

 

I took only macro shots so it could be apreciated. Used 3 coats for full coverage, no top coat,  but there's some VNL, not too much though. Second pic its the same nail, blurried on purpose so all the glitter its visible.

Tomé macro shots para que pueda ser 100% apreciado. Usé 3 capas, sin top coat,  y se puede ver ligeramente la linea de mi uña. La segunda foto es la misma uña, borrosa a propósito para que se observe todo el glitter que viene empacado.

Finally I layed it over 3 China Glaze's: L-R: Rich & Famous, Liquid Leather and White on White. I personally love it over pink, it makes a super girly combo. Ill update this blog post soon so you can see it over more colors. 

Finalmente lo puse sobre 3 China Glaze. I-D: Rich & Famous, Liquid Leather y White on White. A mi personalmente me encanta sobre rosa, hace una combinación muy femenina. Actualizare pronto esta entrada del blog para que puedan verlo sobre otros colores.

Lacquerous: high-end luxury nail lacquers / Suscripción para lacas de lujo

Thanks to some of my IG nail artist I found out about this website, Lacquerous. They're offering a monthly box, we all guess it will be like Julep or birchbox, but it will contain luxury nail polish such as Deborah Lippman, Dolce & Gabanna, OPI Designer Series, among others.

OPI Travel Essentials

A few days ago I got a mini set of OPI Travel essentials from my favorite local beauty store. I love those cute little OPI packs and there was a lot of them, but I chose this one cause it had Avoplex Cuticle oil to go, which Ive been using for a while now and I love it. Testing the other products was a plus!

Hace algunos dias fuí a Beauty Corner (información de la tienda del lado derecho) y encontré un set de productos avoplex. Lo elegí de entre otros paquetes porque contenía el 'Cuticle oil to go' que he estado usando desde hace un tiempo y me encanta. Asi que probar los otros productos fue un plus!

 The package is called Travel Essentials and contains three 30ml. bottles of "Swiss handguard" (handwash gel), liquid soap, hand lotion and a 5ml. tube of Cuticle oil to go. It came in a beautiful box but i threw it away, sadly can't remember why.

El paquete se llama Travel Essentials, y contiene tres botellas de 30 ml de "Swiss handguard" (gel antiséptico), jabón líquido, crema de manos y un tubo de 5 ml. de 'Cuticle oil to go'. Venía en una caja muy bonita pero la tiré, tristemente no recuerdo por qué.

Swiss Handguard: Used the amount as shown in the pic, there was no need of using more. I really like it; dries super fast. I really felt I was cleaning my hands. But the best on this gel is the smell! As soon as you place it on your hands a penetrating mint smell invades your nose, its amazing! Plus Im guessing because of the mint but you get to feel a refreshing sensation on your skin. I highly recommend this product.

Usé la cantidad que se observa en la foto, no tuve que usar mas. Me gustó mucho, seca super rápido. Realmente sentí que estaba limpiando mis manos. Pero lo mejor de este gel es el aroma! Tan pronto como lo pones en tus manos un penetrante aroma a menta invade tu nariz, es increíble! Además, supongo que por la menta, pero la piel recibe una sensación refrescante. Recomiendo altamente este producto.

 

Liquid soap: I find nothing special in this liquid soap. Perhaps all would be that when you rub it in your hands takes a creamy consistency. It smells like roses or flowers, sometimes I like it, sometimes I dont. This is not something I would buy again.

No encuentro nada especial en este jabón. Tal vez lo unico digno de mencionar es que cuando se frota en las manos toma una consistencia cremosa. Huele a rosas, o a flores, a veces me gusta, a veces no. Esto no es algo que compraría de nuevo.

Hand lotion: Ive been looking for a nice hand lotion for a while, this one's perfect. I hate when hands are all greasy, so when I applied a nice, generous amount of avoplex hand lotion I fell in love. Perfectly absorbed. Smooth skin. Wonderful sensation. Bad thing in my personal opinion-  the smell: roses or flowers, as the liquid soap. Not my fave smell, but Im willing to ignore it. Im totally buying this again!

He estado buscando una buena crema de manos desde hace un tiempo, esta es perfecta. Odio tener las manos grasosas, asi que cuando apliqué una buena y generosa cantidad de avoplex en mis manos me enamoré. Se absorbió perfectamente. Mi piel quedó super suave. La sensación fue increíble. Lo malo en mi opinión personal - el olor: rosas, flores, como el jabón líquido. No es mi olor favorito, pero estoy dispuesta a ignorarlo. Definitivamente voy a comprar esta crema de nuevo!

Cuticle oil to go: Last but not least, my favorite of all four; this amazing tube contains gel cuticle oil and a brush so you can use it on the go. I use it all the time at school, it really hydrates the cuticle and the skin around it. As it is a gel there's not that greasy hand problem as I wrote before. The smell is awesome! Its a fruity, peachy smell. Delicious. 

Shown on the pic is the amount I use about 3 times a day, maybe more.

El último pero no menos importante, mi favorito de entre los cuatro productos; este tubo increíble contiene aceite de cutículas en gel y su respectiva brochita para usarlo en donde sea. Yo lo uso todo el tiempo en la escuela, de verdad hidrata la cutícula y la piel alrededor de ésta. Como es un gel no está el problema de las manos grasosas que mencione antes. El olor es de lo mejor! Es un olor frutal, como a durazno. Delicioso. 

En la foto aparece la cantidad que uso alrededor de 3 veces al día, tal vez más.

Orly: Nail Repair / Reparador de uñas rotas de Orly

A few days ago, I was about to swatch China Glaze's Blue Iguana when my nail broke resulting in an awful pain. I swear I almost cried!

Hace algunos dias, estaba a punto de tomar fotos de Blue Iguana de China Glaze, cuando en un mal movimiento mi uña se rompió, un dolor terrible! Casi lloro!

As i like to keep my nails-all at the same length, that would have been a problem. Luckly I bought Orly's Nail Repair kit a while ago and I love it.

The kit contains a Brush-on Nail Glue, Nail Repair powder and a nail file.

Como me gusta mantener mis uñas- todas del mismo tamaño, esto hubiera podido ser un problema. Por suerte, compré el reparador de uñas rotas de Orly hace un tiempo y me encanta!

El kit contiene un pegamento de uñas en brocha, polvo reparador y una lima de uñas.

Glue/Pegamento, File / Lima, Powder/Polvo

The first step is to cover the nail bead with nail glue, avoiding the cuticle and skin.

El primer paso es cubrir la uña con pegamento, evitando la cuticula y la piel.

Next is to submerge the nail into the powder so it sticks on with the glue.

Lo siguiente es sumergir la uña en el polvo para que se pegue con el pegamento.

Last step is to smooth the surface using the nail file the kit includes. However to me its quite small so I use a different file.

El último paso es alisar la superficie usando la lima que el reparador incluye. Sin embargo, para mi la lima es muy pequeña asi que uso otra.

 And thats it! If its soft then the repairment process its done.

Y eso es todo! Si ya esta suave el proceso de reparación ya esta terminado.

 

Orly's Nail Repair helps so much when you dont want to fill your nails down because some of the others broke.  It works pretty well and gives a lasting result. The only problem is that if you use pure acetone to remove nail polish, it will remove part of the repairment each time you use it. Leaving that aside, this is a must for all nail junkies out there!

El reparador de uñas rotas de Orly ayuda muchísimo cuando no quieres reducir el resto de tus uñas cuando alguna se rompió. Funciona bastante bien y da un resultado duradero. El unico problema es que si usas acetona pura para despintar tus uñas, este removera parte de la reparacion cada vez que la uses. Dejando eso de lado, esto es un must para todas las chicas que cuidan sus uñas!

OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine!

Here's a super quick swatch of OPi's Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine! As you may know this polish is form Germany Collection. Weird glare, tho. This is a grey-ish green (or a green-ish grey?). I showed it to some people and all of them thought it was a dark grey, am I the only one who can see its 'green-ess'? 

Aquí unas fotos rapidas de Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok fine! de OPI. Como tal vez sepan este color forma parte de la Germany Collection de OPI. Salieron con un brillo raro. Es un verde grisáceo (o un gris verdoso?). Se lo mostré a algunas personas y todas pensaron que era un gris oscuro, soy la única que puede ver su 'verdosidad'?
